This day for Israel
is light and gladness
a Sabbath of contentment

You commanded precepts
at the Assemblage at Mount Sinai
the Sabbath and festivals
to keep through all my years
to prepare before me
courses and banquets
Sabbath of contentment

Heart's beloved
of the shattered nation
for suffering people
an additional soul
for a troubled soul
it removes moaning
Sabbath of contentment

You hallowed
You blessed it
more than any days
in six You completed
the labor of the universe
on it grieving people
find tranquility and trust
Sabbath of contentment

Concerning the ban of labor
the Awesome One commanded us
I shall merit kingly glory
if I safeguard the Sabbath
I shall bring an offering
to the Fearsome One
a perfumed meal-offering
Sabbath of contentment

Renew our Sanctuary
remember the ruined city
Your goodness, our Savior
grant the saddened one
who spends the Sabbath
in song and praise
